It's's a Formula
I have a pretty specific formula for making coffee and I've never reviewed coffee here mostly because I could say coffee is coffee. But I have found one coffee I really like. Sam's Club sells a two pound bag of Guatamalan coffee for an unbelievable proce of about $14. I could order on-line, but there are too many problems on getting it shipped. We just don't go to a Sam's Club too often. But lately when we've gone we'll buy several bags at one time.
I just haven't reviewed coffee or at least I haven't said much about coffee here, except to mention what I'm drinking with my pipe. I've found a nice glass of Cabernet goes well with a good English and I think once I had a shot of Whiskey with a pipe, but I'm not a Whiskey drinker. But in the mornings with my first pipe is always the best and nothing is better for my first pipe of the day to be a good English tobacco, especially something like Old Professor.
I have smoked the last of my English tobacco while here in NY and won't be placing another tobacco order while we are here. I have a can of Captain Black Original I won't open until I finish my Lane 1-Q. But my son sent me a bag of Black Rifle Headless Horseman Pumkin Spice coffee by the American Coffee Co. for Father's Day that I decided to open early and have been drinking it as of late. A flavored coffee pairs well with a good Aromatic tobacco like Lane 1-Q.
So, I thought I would write about it this morning, because I generally don't drink ground flavored coffee. Once in a great while, I'll buy a bag of ground flavored coffee just because I enjoy something different once in a great while. Pumpkin Spice is usually not a favorite flavor. But I'll make an exception for my son who thought I might like this coffee. It is called Headless Horseman and knowing my son, I can see why he chose this for me.
First of all, I wasn't sure I'd like it for several reasons. It's dark, flavored, and ground. All of these are reasons not to like it, especially the Pumpkin Spice. But it's not as dark as I thought it might be and the flavoring is more subtle than I thought it might be. As for being ground, while I like to grind my own beans, it's nice not to grind beans every morning. It pairs well with Lane 1-Q. In fact there were too many reasons why I shouldn't like it.
But I've found it to be a refreshing change of pace. It's not as dark as I thought it might be. The flavor is there, but it's more subtle. As for being ground, I like not having to grind beans once in awhile. And I'm not saying this because it is a gift from my son. I've found it to a refreshing change of pace for a coffee. I'm pleasantly surprised by it. In every way possible. And Lane 1-Q is a perfect compliment to the coffee.
So, kudos to my son this morning. It's really a perfect choice for something different. I saw the bag and thought to myself that I won't like it for all the reasons I have listed. But my son might know me better than I do. It IS something different in a good kind of way. It's nothing I expected it to be. It's rich with subtle flavoring and I didn't have to grind it. Add the Lane 1-Q and it all makes for a perfect morning. Thanks to my son for this coffee! No need to mention the coffee and tobacco as I close this morning. My pipe this morning is my Nording Number 2 pipe. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
