Longbottom Leaf Tobacco

Tolkien's tobacco of choice was Capstans Medium Navy Cut tobacco.  It sells for about $20 for a one and 3/4 ounce tin.  In a shop a tin might be close to fifty bucks, but Smoking Pipes sells something close to it for $20.  I am smoking Longbottom Leaf one my sons gave me for Father's Day.  I have just finished my second bowl.  It is Virginia, Burley, with Cavendish and is an Aromatic tobacco with notes of chocolate and Vanilla.  The tobacco is mentioned in The Hobbit and is not to be confused with a Marifjuana by the same name.

It is a sweet flavorful tobacco that I have found is sold only in one place, Shop Ansteads, an on-line retailer which may have a brick and morder shop, and is in North Carolina.  But is it good?  It is an excellent Aromatic that retains it's flavor throughout the entire bowl.  I am a kind of unusual pipe smoker in that I enjoy a flavorful Aromatic and strong English tobaccos.  At first, I thought it to be an English Aromatic, but it contains no exotic tobaccos.  Just Virginia's, Burleys, and Cavendish.

It's the Cavendish that gives it the Vanilla Chocolate flavor which most Cavendish tobaccos possess.  Virginia's are naturally sweeter and the Burley adds just a little extra to tone down the sweetness.  While some Aromatics can be goopy, this is not.  The moisture content is just about perfect and does not gurgle in the bowl as one might think this might.  The flavor remains throughout the entire bowl, but the flavor is most noticeable when lighting.

It seems there is only one price per ounce as there are price breaks for the quantity that is ordered from other shops.  It's a little pricey for a bulk tobacco and I have only found one place that sells this particular blend.  But I have now found another on-line store that sells tobacco.  As to whether I order more remains to be seen, simply because of price.  But the fact is that depending on how I budget what I spend on tobacco will determine whether I order more of it.

I just lit my second bowl of the morning and I must say it is a very good Aromatic and am quite impressed with it.  Some Aromatics are goopy, as I said.  This is not.  This is an Aromatic that I might like to have around, although my wife hasn't smelled the room note of it as yet.  But I'm thinking she would like the aroma of this tobacco.  If it smells as pleasant as it tastes, this one she might like, although to say she likes tobacco isn't true.  But some do smell better than others with Old Professor being one she hates the most.

I'm smoking this in my Nording Angel pipe this morning.  I'm saving my Headless Horseman Pumpkin Spice for later as I have a lot of coffee to go through.  This morning it is the unknown which I'm not sure how old it is, so I'm trying to use that up.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.  Happy Father's Day to the dad's today!
