About My Special Blend

I've been told my tobacco reviews are good.  Okay, as an English blend just by itself, I really ebjoy Haunted Bookshop by Cornell and Diehl.  virginia tobaccos are naturally sweet and while it might have a touch of Perique, there might be more there than I like.  The flavor is spot on.  But the Nicotine in it is just too much.  I'm not ordering any more Gambler tobacco, but I had some in the humidor container that is over a year old.  I had to check it out to make sure the Gambler wasn't moldy or stale.  The humidor isn't airtight, but close to it and I figured there was about six ounces I had left.

I have a scale I use for weighing tobacco, but my thinking was that I had about six ounces of Haunted Bookshop just by itself.  I'm currently searching for a good Aromatic much like Gambler I can use as a blending tobacco once this is gone.  But to the twelve ounces of the blended tobacco, I blended in about two ounces of a rich black Cavendish.

That total of fourteen ounces gave me the best self-blended tobacco I have ever had.  And I remember the formula.  I still get the flavor of Haunted Bookshop without the Nicotine sickness.  I could smoke that formula all day long and not have any nicotine sickness accompanying it.  I say this because the more I smoke of that blended tobacco the better I like it.  The blend is much like an English Aromatic that gives me the flavor with just a hint of sweetness from the Cavendish.

I have hit just the right balance with this blend.  My wife still doesn't like it as it still has the aroma of an English tobacco.  But for me, maybe it's the Gambler that is now a year old that adds flavor, but I'm thinking it's the Cavendish.  I wish I could handle Nicotine better, just because of Haunted Bookshop, but it might be good I am sensitive to Nicotine.

The tobacco stays lit in the bowl and there is no tongue bite.  The flavor is smooth without any harshness at all.  But my thinking is that it's the Cavendish that makes it smooth.  There is just a hint of sweetness.  Overall, my own blend here is just about perfect.

Out of all the various homemade blends I've had I like this one the best and the fact that my Special Blend retains the flavor of Haunted Bookshop.  If not for the Nicotine, Haunted Bookshop would be a favorite.  I have blended so many of my own and have smoked them because I had them on hand.  But it wasn't until I added the Cavendish that I decided I had made a very special blend and I know the recipe for it.  And it is a very Special Blend.  I'm smoking it in my Nording Number 2 pipe this morning while drinking a cup of Blue Bottle Coffee.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
