Stupid Ways

 I was off on a Spiritual bent and decided to write about something different.  It's about stupid ways people have died.  I don't know, I get caught in a groove and I need something different.  Death doesn't scare me, but I'm not going to risk my life.  Sure, we take risks flying, driving, or recreationally, but many risks are calculated and generally we are safe in most things we do.  But some people just do dumb things and it costs them their lives.

Be Amazed is the YouTube channel which describes stupid ways people die.  There are examples here of Darwin Awards of how people died.  I won't list the various ways here, because they are simply too numerous to mention.  Einstein once said as limitless as imagination is, nothing is as limitless as peoples' stupidity.  But it seems the most numerous ways people die are people taking selfies.

They fall off cliffs or fall into waterfalls only to hit rocks below and drown.  One man went ice fishing and dropped his phone into the icy water.  He froze to death retrieving it.  The thing these videos teach is to simply be careful.  I really can't stand to see too much of these videos, even though they are animated.  But I have a hard time watching tv showss or movies where death and killing are part of the plot.

I have a very simple theology that most can't accept, but most Buddhist would understand.  Murder and suicide are unforgivable.  I simply say the intentional taking of any Human Life is unforgivable.  My wife has said it's too simplistic for most to understand or accept.  But does God allow for accidents due to stupidity?  I can't answer that question nor can I say what murder is.  

I often wish I understood more than I do.  But I would say most have nothing to worry about.  It might be that belief matters in the grand scheme of things, but most religions talk about salvation in some form or another.  Maybe respect for all Human Life is just a beginning.  It can start there.  Then belief can begin to matter with levels of heaven as rewards for how well a person believes and practices their beliefs.  

Sometimes I wish I had all the answers, but I don't.  As my wife has said, it can't be that simple.  Maybe this is where it all begins.  After that it all depends.  I don't know.  I only know what I know.  Just be careful with your lives and the lives of others.  There is enough death in this world without adding to it by stupidity.  Please, just be careful.  This is what causes me stress about the world.  There is just too much death and dying in this world.  I try to relax with my pipe and the occassiinal glass of wine.  It all helps.  My pipe this morning is my Angel pipe because it's Sunday and my coffee is Stumptown Holler Mountain.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
