Serious Pipe Smoker

 Okay, so I've said pipe smoking is a hobby, but I guess one could say that I'm a serious pipe smoker.  The other morning my wife and I ran some errands earlier in the day than usual because of the hurricane.  We live in Florida and we live in a place that has little impact from this storm.  But as I was watching about the hurricane from the Weather Channel, I took some time to place my next order of tobacco.

I got eight ounces of Lane 1-q, which has become a favorite Aromatic.  I have plenty of my own blend and that should last me until I need to order again.  But I placed an order for a fourteen ounce can of Carter Hall tobacco.  Why?  I've never had it.  I've tried all the OTC blends and found my least favorite to be Mixtire 79.  I can see why Hef liked it, but I hated it.  I've tried them all and have had the cheapest and the most expensive.  

I could be a Balkan smoker, but find most Balkan blends to be too expensive.  Old Professor is not a Balkan but has become my favorite English.  But why Carter Hall?  I wanted to try it and it only comes in a fourteen ounces tun.  But for less than forty bucks why not?  It certainly can't be the worst of the OTC blends.  I've found Catain Black to be the best so far, but can Carter Hall be better?  Maybe.  

It certainly can't be the worst.  I didn't mind Half and Half and found Velvet to be tolerable.  Cater Hall is in the top 100 of tobacco blends by Smoking Pipes and has a respectable 3.88 rating out of five.  So, maybe it's not so bad.  It has 109 reviews.  That is a lot of reviews for any tobacco blend.  So, we will see how it is.  Fourteen ounces for a blend I've never tried is a lot, but I'll smoke it all at some point or another.  It is described as a non-aromatic, but the fact is it's probably slightly Aromatic but no complaints about the room note of it.  My wife might actually like it.

So, I'll review it at some point next week.  I'm just interested to see what it is.  I just figured it's a win-win.  So, I'll see next week what I have to say about it.  I just want you to be aware that I'm trying something new in this tobacco.  I'm exited about it and really will look forward to receiving it.  Meanwhile this morning it is my Nording Number 3 pipe with  Old Professor tobacco and my coffee this morning is from Amazon.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Strange

 I can never predict how any of my posts are going to be received but I do get a reaction from my wife quite often, but I'll post about my Spirituality thinking I've said enough and apart from a few other subjects my Spirituality posts do quite well.  I had yesterday's tobacco review done a few days ago and saved it for yesterday and again, it seems my tobacco reviews do quite well.  Then I wrote about my age and it seemed no one cared that much   My wife says that it's my titles for my subjects So, while I have so many subjects to choose from, today it is about how my tobacco choices influence my Spirituality or do they?  Not really.  It's just that I can't smoke my pipes without tobacco.  I could be smoking a lot of things.  Like the question asked when someone thinks you are crazy, " What have I been smoking?"  Well, at least you know.  It's never any "funny" stuff.  You could be asking what I've been drinking.  I have ...

Old Ads

 My wife liked my post about old things we remember.  And a lot of what I remembered was good.  But there was some bad things back then that are different today.  Back in the 50's and 60's and even into the 70's advertising in both magazines and TV were incredibly sexist.  I don't have the space in one post to list all the ads, but really they can be summed by saying that a lot of advertising was incredibly sexist. I 've mentioned my wife lit my pipe for me just a few times, but these days she can barely tolerate the aroma of my most flavorful Aromatic tobacco.  She liked everything I said in that post except my mentioning Old Professor pipe tobacco.  Ironically, I like Old Professor the most and she hates it the most.  So, when I mentioned it, she did too.  But back in the day a man smoking a pipe was his lifestyle.  Today, it's a hobby, and not just for men.
