Always Enough

Balance is about always enough.  That includes everything in life.  The only exceptions might be both love and peace.  We can’t have too much of these.  But in all things balance is always enough.  Too much of anything isn’t good.  I guess we could talk about the necessities of life, but that all depends.  It is accepting what we have and work for what we want more of.  Some don’t have enough things they want in life, but some are content with what they have or don’t have.

We want enough food to live on.  We want adequate shelter.  Some want nicer clothes.  But too much attention to certain things can be too much.  It all depends.  But contentment comes from having enough.  Jealousy occurs when we want more than what we have and reality says we can’t always get what we want.  But real contentment comes from having enough.

We might not get steaks every day, but enough is always having enough of anything and more is gravy.  Some don’t have enough love and attention.  Some don’t have enough Peace.  Inner Peace is acceptance of what can’t be changed.  Outer Peace comes from changing what we can.  Wisdom comes from knowing the difference.

Balance always matters.  Even when I’m smoking my pipe, I know not to smoke too much.  As they say about good things, too much of a good thing is often too much.  I go to the gym often enough and still get enough exercise doing things around the house and grocery shopping.  I know my pipes can be too much if I allow for it.  My wife is limited in what she can do and on days I don’t go to the gym, I can still get exercise.

Doing chores like making the bed and taking out garbage is still being active.  Cleaning house and caring for animals are just simple ways of staying active.  But for me nothing is more important than care for my heart.  My phone checks up on me and can tell me how I am doing both physically and mentally.  My pipe is as much for my mental state of mind as it is for stress reduction on my heart.  Heart and mind go hand-in-hand.  Today it is my Czech Jirsa pipe with my Balkan blend and my coffee this morning is Stumptown Holler Mountain.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Dave
