Rivalry Week
I can’t ignore the fact this is rivalry week in college football. I watched a video last night from a YouTuber who follows college football throughout the year. Most years he’s attended the OSU/Mich game but he says not this year. He’s from Georgia and has found the OSU/Mich game as the game not to attend. I know some of you aren’t into college football, but this year he says the Texas A&M game with Texas is the game to watch this year. It’s where he is headed.
I might have more curiosity about the SEC than I do about the BIG10. The top four teams of the BIG10 will be in the playoffs. But it’s the SEC that has drawn the most interest. He thinks Texas A&M can upset Texas. And if they do, he’s wondering how the SEC gets into the playoffs. He’s betting on an upset there in Texas. And for the first time since 2010 Alabama won’t be there. And should Texas lose how does the SEC fare in the playoffs? He says he can’t wait for that game.
Now this is a lot about the playoffs but we know who will represent the BIG10. It’s just a matter of how it shakes out. This weekend is a telling weekend on the playoff hopefuls. Every year at this time it’s rivalry week and the attention shifts every year. My attention is on OSU as they are the favorite by Vegas to win the whole thing. Is OSU good enough? Some think OSU answered a lot of questions by defeating Indiana. But are they good enough? Is Texas good enough? Or Oregon?
This is the excitement of college football. Every game this weekend will tell a tale. And I for one can’t wait! It’s the best college football has to offer, particularly this year. Will there be a rising star team this year? Everyone is talking about games this weekend. But there is more to life than just college football. And that is my point. As I said yesterday I’m just thankful for life regardless of who wins and loses this weekend.
Life is where it’s at, not college football. Life goes on win or lose. Football is just a game. For a few it’s how they make a living. Fortunes can rise or fall with and losers. But thankfully I don’t bet. I enjoy watching the predictions and then see how those predictions pan out. But I’m not a betting man and have never bet on sporting events. Some make a living out of betting. But I never have.
I don’t play the lottery for the same reason. Some say the stock market is a gamble. But investments of any kind can be a risk. I’m not that kind of risk-taker. But for me that’s not all bad. I believe in investing in people, but even that has risks. This is where faith comes in. You just believe. This is why I relax by smoking a pipe and let my Spirit Guides work. Today it is my Pierre Lamar pipe with Balkan tobacco and my coffee is Gevalia. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
