Why It Doesn’t Matter

 I really don’t care which team is your favorite today.  What I care about the most is that you respect all Hunan Life.  But rivalry football is fun.  No question about it.  I watched some college football yesterday and care mostly about the OSU/Michigan game, but I’m intrigued by the Texas/Texas A&M game.  That could be an upset game.  I’ll keep an eye on it.  But mostly, I’m not sure I care that much about who wins the whole thing.  

A lot of games have yet to be played and it could be most anyone who wins.  I tenjoy the distraction of college football, but in some ways it is all it is.  I might be more focused on the holidays and the meaning of the season, but I am more secular about Christmas believing Jesus was born in April.  But that gets close to Easter, which for me is more religious.  

I like Santa Claus and reindeer and images of Christmas trees.  I still get excited about watching others opening gifts on Christmas and being with family.  Christmas is a special time of year and unlike Easter it has its own day.  And through it all will still be college football and the playoffs.  I enjoy listening to analyses and listening to pundits talk about the games yet to be played.  

But mostly it is all a distraction not really caring that much about winners and losers.  Life is bigger than football.  I like to see how Vegas does as it predicts games to be played.  But again I’m not sure I care about winners or losers.  Caring too much causes anxiety I don’t need.  I prefer to choose my teams and hope for the best.  

I prefer rather to sit back with a pipe and just watch not caring too much.  I don’t need the anxiery of caring.  In fact I’ve learned caring too much about anything causes anxiety.  This is why I smoke a pipe and let my Spirit Guides work.  Doing this makes life a bit simpler.  Things will work out the way they are supposed to.  We often worry about things out of our control.  These things cause the most anxiety.  We don’t feel as anxious over the things which we can control.  Today it is my Boswell pipe with Good Stuff  Mint and my coffee is Blue Bottle coffee.  Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...

A Different Kind of Birthday

I might be the only one my age who says I’m fourteen today but I suppose if you were to ask my family I’m in my second childhood so-to-speak.  But yesterday I made a big deal out of my heart attack but today not so much.    It’s not that I fear death—no, I fear pain.  Death doesn’t frighten me in the least.  I have talked with many who have had that kind of heart attack and the women have said it’s worse than child birth.  There really isn’t a pain like it they have said.  If I could go without the pain I’d be in heaven right now.   But if I had to go through that pain to get there I’d rather live.  But a lot has happened in these last fourteen years.  And I’ve been alive to live my life relatively pain free.  My appendicitis wasn’t all that painful but the stomach tube was annoying enough.  But we sold our home and invested in another place in NY and now live with our son here in Florida.   I’m limited in what u do and I ...
