It’s On Its Way
I got a gift card for Christmas and used it to order an estate pipe and eight ounces of a tobacco I have never tried. I placed the order a day after Christmas and they say it will be delivered a day after New Year’s Day. It took a couple of days for them to process the order as many gift cards were given as Christmas presents. I’m writing about it now because normally my order would arrive on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. But I have to wait until Thursday unless by some chance it gets here Tuesday instead.
So does it matter? Not really. First, I have plenty of pipes and probably don’t need another and second I have a lot of tobacco left from last month’s order. But I did get the free shipping! The tobacco I ordered was Berries and Cream as I still have quite a bit of English left from last month. It only has nine reviews and gets a 2.3 star rating which isn’t very good.
The reviewers either loved it or hated it with not much in between. So, why did I choose it? Because is my only answer. I’m not sure. One reviewer said others love the aroma. Okay, so I care about my wife’s nostrils. I wanted something she might like , so we shall see. My wife tolerates Captain Black original but doesn’t care for much else.
When she wants to come out and talk, generally I put my pipe down. But if she wants to read out here, I’ll smoke my Captain Black. So, I’m hoping Berries and Cream lives up to what one reviewer said was pleasant for others. Complaints were that it was either over-the-top or no flavor at all. Those that complain about no flavor are probably those that smoke vapors.
The pipe I ordered is an early 20th century no name estate pipe in good condition. So we shall see on that. Older pipes are made with aged briar that is more hard than newer pipes made from newer less aged briar which is softer and tends to burn. So, I’m just hoping this estate pipe is worthy as a collectible. This morning I am smoking my Peterson Irish Harp pipe with Smooth English tobacco. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
