A Problem

 For the past several months I have been trying to order Old Professor pipe tobacco but every time I’m ready to place an order it’s gone.  Once I had it in my cart and when I got around to ordering it was gone.  This time around I’ve got an order of Revelation which was Einstein’s tobacco of choice.  I had a couple of ounces once before and decided to place an order for a half pound of it.  I’m thinking Ild Professor might just be discontinued.

I placed an order last time for some Lavish English, which is an Aromatic English that I like pretty well.  I’ve never had Yale Mixture before and I’m thinking it might be close to Old Professor, but I’m not sure.  I might not be smoking much around my wife any more since she has a vision problem that is affected by smoke of any kind.  So, now I am thinking it might not matter much to her which tobacco I’m smoking since I shouldn’t be smoking around her anyway.

Finding a substitute for Old Professor might be hard if I can’t get any more of it.  So, I might have to try a number of tobaccos that I think might be similar.  I have my cart ready, but I might change it and order small quantities of tobacco I want to try.  Old Professor was a sleeper, but suddenly it has become very popular and now I can’t find it anywhere else.  I’m kind of hoping Yale mixture is close.  

Old Professor was so distinctive.  I’m going to have to read a lot of descriptions and see if something isn’t close to it.  Just because an English has an aroma not pleasant to my wife doesn’t mean it’s good to me.  I’ve been sound a lot of shopping lately and had eight ounces of a cherry blend she might like no longer matters.  I might skip the Aromatics and have some on hand, but if that is the case I can just have some Lane 1-q instead.  

But maybe I’ll venture more into English blends and skip Aromatics except just to have some, but not a lot.  A lot of old codger pipe smokers like myself gravitate to the Balkan blends which are plentiful.  But Old Professor wasn’t a Balkan blends.  It was just unique.  So, I’m making a whole new order skipping Aromatics this time.  I’ll just have to figure out what I want to try and order a bunch of small samples. 

Today is Friday, which is my “any pipe” day.  I like my Rosedale pipe, which is one of my oldest pipes, and might make that my Friday pipe.  My tobacco this morning is a Balkan Blend copied after 957, but I’m not crazy about it.  I like it just enough.  My coffee this morning is Organic Ethiopian coffee.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Strange

 I can never predict how any of my posts are going to be received but I do get a reaction from my wife quite often, but I'll post about my Spirituality thinking I've said enough and apart from a few other subjects my Spirituality posts do quite well.  I had yesterday's tobacco review done a few days ago and saved it for yesterday and again, it seems my tobacco reviews do quite well.  Then I wrote about my age and it seemed no one cared that much   My wife says that it's my titles for my subjects So, while I have so many subjects to choose from, today it is about how my tobacco choices influence my Spirituality or do they?  Not really.  It's just that I can't smoke my pipes without tobacco.  I could be smoking a lot of things.  Like the question asked when someone thinks you are crazy, " What have I been smoking?"  Well, at least you know.  It's never any "funny" stuff.  You could be asking what I've been drinking.  I have ...

Old Ads

 My wife liked my post about old things we remember.  And a lot of what I remembered was good.  But there was some bad things back then that are different today.  Back in the 50's and 60's and even into the 70's advertising in both magazines and TV were incredibly sexist.  I don't have the space in one post to list all the ads, but really they can be summed by saying that a lot of advertising was incredibly sexist. I 've mentioned my wife lit my pipe for me just a few times, but these days she can barely tolerate the aroma of my most flavorful Aromatic tobacco.  She liked everything I said in that post except my mentioning Old Professor pipe tobacco.  Ironically, I like Old Professor the most and she hates it the most.  So, when I mentioned it, she did too.  But back in the day a man smoking a pipe was his lifestyle.  Today, it's a hobby, and not just for men.
