Lost Track
I’ve lost track of how many pipes I own. I think it’s around 40, but a few I no longer smoke mostly because those few are close to burning out or there are other problems. But I have two favorite smoking pipes with my Dunhill I’m smoking this morning as my very favorite pipe. I was smoking my very first pipe the other day and my wife remembered it as a very early pipe. I told her that pipe I was now fifty years old. Smoking it brought back so many memories.
I’ll smoke that pipe every once in a while, although it’s not a favorite smoking pipe, but still I enjoy it. My other favorite pipe is my “haunted” Gettysburg pipe I bought at an antique store in Gettysburg. My very first pipe will hold special memories for me. But every pipe tells a story. I have one pipe that might be the most traveled of my pipes and that is my Boswell. It has been on two European trips and I take it with me everywhere I go. It has been from NY to LA and everywhere in-between.
My Boswell pipe is the one pipe I like to show off the most. It’s hand carved with a green stem. I got compliments on it everywhere I have been. If I had my Dunhill then that would have been THE pipe I’d smoke. I’m not sure it’s been seen except by a few.
I could take a pipe to a local cigar bar and smoke there, but going to a cigar bar obligates me to but a cigar. I guess there are bars where people smoke, but I’m not into social drinking. I’ll have something while at home, but I don’t drink socially. My Gettysburg pipe makes for a fine conversation piece, but I think apart from what I’ve written here about it I’ve never said much about to anyone except for my wife who thinks it’s the most interesting pipe I own.
So, today it is my Dunhill pipe because I smoke it on Tuesday’s. I can’t even tell you where my wife bought it. She got it on-line. I know nothing about it except it is a Dunhill estate pipe. I know about what she and the kids paid for it. New and it would cost four times more. It’s one of my few pipes that won’t decrease in value if I take good care of it. My tobacco this morning is Irish Blessing and my coffee is from Blue Bottle coffee company. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
