Battle of Two

 Do I like Constellation better than Old Professor?  This is a question I am asking myself this morning.  And my answer is:  It just depends.  Old Professor is my first choice, but lately it has been hard to come by.  If when it comes time to ordering Old Professor is my first choice if it’s available, but my second choice is Constellation.  And my third choice is Haunted Bookshop.  

I’ve not reviewed Constellation so, let me say some things about it this morning.  If I compare the two together one is simply like an old friend and the other is a seductress.  I can’t speak from experience in describing Old Professor, but it is like a college grad having a talk with his old college professor.  It might even be a bit boring if one was to overhear the conversation but the familiarity is there.  

Nothing has changed.  Same familiar wood paneling and same old leather chair.  The only difference is that the old Professor is just older and wiser.  He’s a bit boring.  But he hasn’t changed.  Old Professor might be a good English if one is beginning to explore English tobaccos.  Nothing but a rich solid tobacco.  

But if I compare the Old Professor to Constellation, Constellation is more like a seductress.  It’s spicy and is quite different.  It’s far from boring.  Neither of them will bite and both are superb English tobaccos in their own way.  Sometimes spicy is good and sometimes boring is good.  But one can’t compare one to the other because they are both very different.  

The difference is the Orientals that make up Old Professor.  A freshman walking into the Old Professors office will find him interesting.  But the college grad will find the seductress  exciting.  He knows seduction and likes when a girl comes into him.  Both are good in their own way.  An experienced pipe smoker might not like boring.  But I find it relaxing.  Constellation can be relaxing but it’s different.  

My point is that I like them both for different reasons.  I’ll smoke my Yale Mixture and won’t order more.  If I can get Old Professor it is my first choice.  But Constellation is my second choice.  I like them both but for different reasons.  The spiciness of Constellation is just enough.  Preferably I would like to have them both if I can.  And if Old Professor isn’t available then it’s Haunted Bookshop as my third choice.  My pipe this morning is my Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipe and my tobacco is my Constellation.  My coffee this morning is Bella Maria.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
