I Found It

If I smoke an English tobacco my wife doesn’t like, I may have found my English that is a substitute for Old Professor that is no longer available.  I’ve published two reviews on Smoking Pipes website and one was for Old Professor.  I won’t post one for Bayou Night, but it might be what I have been looking for as a replacement for Old Professor.

Bayou Night has all the similar tobaccos, but it may have a bit more Latakia than I would like.  Latakia is used for spicing up the flavor and Bayou Night might have a tad more Latakia than I’d like, but all the components are there.  I’d give it four and a half stars out of five stars which is the same as I gave Old Professor.  The Orientals are there.  The mixture is a tad different, but of all the English I have smoked since Bayou Night comes closest.

There isn’t much to say otherwise, but it is a very good blend.  I reviewed Davidoff English Mixture and found it to be simply too bland.   Davidoff is known for making good cigars and has a few popular pipe tobacco blends.  But Bayou Night, while not perfect, is the best I have smoked since I first tried Old Professor.

So, I may have found my substitute.  My wife does not like the room note of Bayou Night.  But when I told her I may have found something I like just as well as Old Professor she asked if that was what I smoking.  It was.  And then I knew.  She didn’t like the room note of Old Professor either.  And it was then that I knew I had a hit with Bayou Night.

I have another tobacco I ordered with this one which has higher review ratings.  But Bayou Night, while not rated as high, simply does it for me.  I’ll order it again and maybe in a larger quantity.  I wasn’t sure when I ordered the first time in my most recent order, but after a few bowls and being a little different I find I like it just as much.  It is a little spicier, but other than this all the same components are there.

So, that is my review of Bayou Night by Cornell and Diehl.  Today I am smoking my Boswell pipe with my Bayou Night.  My coffee this morning is Stumptown Holler Mountain.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Dave
