Consistency

I was reading this morning about the personality types of pipe smokers.  They are introspective and know what they believe.  They aren’t swayed by trends.  They tend to have what now can be called old-fashioned values.  They believe in consistency and tend to be more instructive than learners.  They aren’t easily swayed from their beliefs.

I gave up my pipes for ministry and if I had smoked my pipes then I might have been a far more effective minister.  But I rediscovered my pipes after leaving ministry and never looked back.  My pipes have kept me being balanced.  I tend to believe all ministers would be more effective if they smoked a pipe.

But ministry is just one occupation.  This is why pipe smoking is associated with professional fields like teaching.  I find I read better while smoking a pipe.  I tend to have clearer thoughts while smoking a pipe.  It helps keep me focused.  And it keeps my emotions in balance.

I know what I believe and I take time for my thoughts to grow and mature before expressing them.  Pipe smokers are less impulsive and are more trusting of their thoughts because they have taken time to think them through.  Why some start smoking pipes and stay with it is because a pipe matches their personality types.  But too a pipe causes changes in how one reacts and thinks through problems.

Pipe smokers are more thoughtful.  But this is all a part of the introspective personality of the pipe smoker.  So whenever you see someone smoking a pipe be mindful of their personality types.  Simply put, a pipe is a far different use of tobacco than any other form of usage.  Pipe smokers are practical traditionalists.  We’re old school and at one time was part of the defining of a gentleman.  These values are just as true today as it has been for centuries.

Pipe smokers are excellent conversationalists. Which is almost a lost art in today’s world.  But whenever you hear of someone smoking a pipe don’t judge them harshly.  They are often not what you may think.  I am listening to cigar lounge jazz music while smoking my Boswell pipe this morning with some Bayou Night tobacco.  My coffee this morning is a Peruvian blend.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
