We’re Back

 Yesterday was a travel day.  We’re back in Florida today.  I’m kind of relaxing this morning, but we have errands to run today.  I woke earlier this morning.  I’m listening to some Lofi coffee jazz this morning while smoking my morning pipe and drinking my morning coffee.  Our houseguest did a great job caring for the house and our cats.  We will unpack later, but this morning it is my pipe, my coffee, and some music.  

I can go days or weeks without a pipe, but I didn’t smoke yesterday.  We were traveling from about noon yesterday until about ten last night.  Almost twelve hour is too much.  But I hope we can get settled in by evening tonight.  But right now is me time until breakfast is ready.  

I swapped the deck for the lanai by the pool.  I enjoyed watching the deer amble through our backyard.  And I’ve traded them for cats that go and out.  In a few days our routines here will be back to normal after we get settled in here.  But it’s good to be back in Florida.

It will take a few days to get back to the routines here.  But I can relax this morning.  We share our car with our houseguest, but it will be nice not to plan our trips days ahead.  I hear the local traffic and we have to go back to suburban living.  Unpacking will be our biggest chore today.  

But I’ll relax with my pipe and some Bayou Night.  My coffee this morning is Cameron’s.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

The Sherlock Holmes Series

 I won’t collect them all and maybe I’ll just have the one Sherlock Holmes pipes.  But it just might be my favorite series of pipes and if I collected them all it would take years for me to do so.  The other series is the Dracula series also by Peterson but I have no interest in the Dracula pipes.  I have my one Sherlock Holmes pipe, but what sets them apart is that they each have a silver band with the Sherlock head stamped on each one.   This makes each pipe different and although they might be similar to other Peterson pipes, each Sherlock Holmes pipe is very distinct and different.  If I were to get another pipe in the series it might be the Professor’s pipe so named for Professor Moriarty.  Each style was smoked by a character either in the book, on stage, or in the movies about Sherlock Holmes and his various enemies.   Each pipe is different and unique and comes in price ranges from about $125-$300.  I’m not interested in the more expe...

Almost

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...

A Different Kind of Birthday

I might be the only one my age who says I’m fourteen today but I suppose if you were to ask my family I’m in my second childhood so-to-speak.  But yesterday I made a big deal out of my heart attack but today not so much.    It’s not that I fear death—no, I fear pain.  Death doesn’t frighten me in the least.  I have talked with many who have had that kind of heart attack and the women have said it’s worse than child birth.  There really isn’t a pain like it they have said.  If I could go without the pain I’d be in heaven right now.   But if I had to go through that pain to get there I’d rather live.  But a lot has happened in these last fourteen years.  And I’ve been alive to live my life relatively pain free.  My appendicitis wasn’t all that painful but the stomach tube was annoying enough.  But we sold our home and invested in another place in NY and now live with our son here in Florida.   I’m limited in what u do and I ...
