Some Have and Some Have Not

 Am I speaking of wealth?  No.  Followers.  Trends in religion come and go.  Some say the Prosperity Gospel, as it is called today, was started by Norman Vincent Peake and is now propagated mostly by Joel Osteen and others.  I thought about followers in terms of religious sects, but it can refer to a church or most any organization.  I thought about this the other day as I thought I am basically a cult of one with no followers.  

I know what I believe and I know I am going to heaven.  And I was saved by Angels.  I can’t tell anyone how to be saved by Angels.  They came to me.  I didn’t summon them.   They gave me a simple Message.  Basically it is to do no harm to anyone or myself.  That makes for a very simple way of living.  But I can’t say I am my own authority.  

Many teach the philosophy of doing no harm, but how many actually live it?  I’m far from perfect.  But doing no harm means just that.  Mine is a religion of Peace and not war.  It has been this way my entire life.  But I am far from exemplifying perfect Peace.  I seek inner Peace first.  

One might say my religion simply teaches Peace and Love and nothing else.  But in today’s world inner Peace seems hard to come by.  I do it by meditation.  And I smoke a pipe while doing it.  Maybe I have attracted a few to my religion, but I say smoking a pipe doesn’t have to be a part of it.  Just that it is for me.  Maybe I’ll smoke a few cigars along the way simply because I enjoy a good cigar.  

But inner Peace comes by shutting the world out and being alone.  But  I am never lonely.  I commune with God and Angels.  And I think in the words on Jesus who is the perfect example of Peace and Love.  Today is Friday and I am smoking my Arcobaleno Blue pipe by Savinelli while I smoke some Bayou Night pipe tobacco.  My coffee this morning is Stumptown Holler Mountain coffee.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.

The Sherlock Holmes Series

 I won’t collect them all and maybe I’ll just have the one Sherlock Holmes pipes.  But it just might be my favorite series of pipes and if I collected them all it would take years for me to do so.  The other series is the Dracula series also by Peterson but I have no interest in the Dracula pipes.  I have my one Sherlock Holmes pipe, but what sets them apart is that they each have a silver band with the Sherlock head stamped on each one.   This makes each pipe different and although they might be similar to other Peterson pipes, each Sherlock Holmes pipe is very distinct and different.  If I were to get another pipe in the series it might be the Professor’s pipe so named for Professor Moriarty.  Each style was smoked by a character either in the book, on stage, or in the movies about Sherlock Holmes and his various enemies.   Each pipe is different and unique and comes in price ranges from about $125-$300.  I’m not interested in the more expe...

Almost

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...

A Different Kind of Birthday

I might be the only one my age who says I’m fourteen today but I suppose if you were to ask my family I’m in my second childhood so-to-speak.  But yesterday I made a big deal out of my heart attack but today not so much.    It’s not that I fear death—no, I fear pain.  Death doesn’t frighten me in the least.  I have talked with many who have had that kind of heart attack and the women have said it’s worse than child birth.  There really isn’t a pain like it they have said.  If I could go without the pain I’d be in heaven right now.   But if I had to go through that pain to get there I’d rather live.  But a lot has happened in these last fourteen years.  And I’ve been alive to live my life relatively pain free.  My appendicitis wasn’t all that painful but the stomach tube was annoying enough.  But we sold our home and invested in another place in NY and now live with our son here in Florida.   I’m limited in what u do and I ...
