 Exactly one year ago today I opened a new FB account.  I decided to give it one year and see whether I needed it.  After one year I decided I don’t need FB.  But in the process I found Instagram.  I decided to post vids of myself smoking my pipe and make different comments each day.  FB kept me busy.  But that is all it did.  

I decided after one year I didn’t need it.  I found it more bothersome than not.  I can focus on other things now.  I was posting just to be relevant but I don’t need FB to be relevant.  I have this blog and Instagram and really that is all I need.  I simply have no need for FB.  I found it more troublesome than it was worth to me.  

I tried social media some almost twenty years after my Angel experience.  I decided then social media was not for me.  I mention my Angels in my bio on Instagram but feel maybe my pipe smoking is more important.  I mention my Angels and maybe that is enough.  I gave  this a lot of thought yesterday, but a lot of people find FB of little value.  

My wife keeps me posted about what is happening with others and it gave us both a few laughs.  But I find FB of little value, if any.  I wondered about this blog after some nearly thousand posts, but I find this blog is good for my mind.  I’ll keep this blog but maybe write less and spend my time thinking more.  I have to think about what I’ll say and I can take time off when needed.  And if I don’t have much to say, I can wait until I have something to say.

It is no secret I smoke a pipe.  It keeps me occupied and my pipes are my hobby.  I can write tobacco reviews and can still write about my pipes.  I decided yesterday I’d sleep on it and finally decide this morning.  I think giving FB a year would be enough time.  And I decided yesterday I’d sleep on it and I did.  It was on my mind all this week.  I decided this morning I had given it enough time.  

I decided I like Instagram for my pipe hobby.  But FB served little if any purpose for me.  This blog is still important.  But I decided I’d given enough time to FB.  I’ll relax with my pipe each day and not give any more thought to FB.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

 I won’t collect them all and maybe I’ll just have the one Sherlock Holmes pipes.  But it just might be my favorite series of pipes and if I collected them all it would take years for me to do so.  The other series is the Dracula series also by Peterson but I have no interest in the Dracula pipes.  I have my one Sherlock Holmes pipe, but what sets them apart is that they each have a silver band with the Sherlock head stamped on each one.   This makes each pipe different and although they might be similar to other Peterson pipes, each Sherlock Holmes pipe is very distinct and different.  If I were to get another pipe in the series it might be the Professor’s pipe so named for Professor Moriarty.  Each style was smoked by a character either in the book, on stage, or in the movies about Sherlock Holmes and his various enemies.   Each pipe is different and unique and comes in price ranges from about $125-$300.  I’m not interested in the more expe...

Almost

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...

A Different Kind of Birthday

I might be the only one my age who says I’m fourteen today but I suppose if you were to ask my family I’m in my second childhood so-to-speak.  But yesterday I made a big deal out of my heart attack but today not so much.    It’s not that I fear death—no, I fear pain.  Death doesn’t frighten me in the least.  I have talked with many who have had that kind of heart attack and the women have said it’s worse than child birth.  There really isn’t a pain like it they have said.  If I could go without the pain I’d be in heaven right now.   But if I had to go through that pain to get there I’d rather live.  But a lot has happened in these last fourteen years.  And I’ve been alive to live my life relatively pain free.  My appendicitis wasn’t all that painful but the stomach tube was annoying enough.  But we sold our home and invested in another place in NY and now live with our son here in Florida.   I’m limited in what u do and I ...
