Are They Planned?

Some are saying NFL games are scripted to protect Vegas.  A lot of money is bet on NFL games.  I still want to believe in the integrity of college football, but I too have my doubts about NFL football.  A fan in the stands at a Lions game got a notification of a touchdown before it happened.  The player was named who would make the touchdown.  

Was it a lucky guess or was all planned?  Some are saying it was a lucky guess by an excited and maybe party inebriated Lions bettor.  Either way the Lions scored a touchdown as it was called.  Did this person have inside information or was it a lucky guess?  No one knows for sure.  But for those who bet on what was going to happen made some money off Vegas.  

Some suggest it was a glitch in the Matrix or a kind of time travel.  Okay, maybe I am being too hard on the NFL for scripting games.  One thing is certain however, since Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift, the Chiefs have yet to return to predictions about another Super Bowl appearance.  Maybe Taylor Swift is too much of a distraction for the Chiefs.   

But many are saying Vegas scripts NFL games.  There just are not many upsets in the NFL.  It shows Vegas still has less control over college football than it does the NFL.  But the Chiefs right now are the only team not living the scripts.  Maybe I am just jaded about NFL football.  College kids are less predictable because, well, they’re college kids.  A lot is going on in college that not even coaches can control.  

A college football QG might have just broken up with his girlfriend and his head isn’t in the game.  But colleges have sports counselors to help with that kind of shit.  One week star players have it together and maybe the next week they don’t.  Coaches have to sometimes be fathers.  But this is why college coaches have to be on top of things.  They have a job to make sure every kid has his head in the game.  

The NFL is different.  These players are paid to be their best.  The NIL has taken a lot of guesswork out of the game.  College kids are now making good money to play football.  But sometimes money causes other problems for college kids.  But for many football is a high paying job.  

Well, I could go on and on about Vegas getting involved in predicting games.  Was it just a lucky guess?  We may never know.  Betting on football is all about predictions and outcomes.  But many are saying NFL games are scripted.  Are they?  Many think so.  But right now I’m not sure I care.  Money is the root of evil.  I’ll just smoke my Peterson System pipe with some Quiet Nights and not worry about it.  My coffee this morning is a blend from Guatemala.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...

A Different Kind of Birthday

I might be the only one my age who says I’m fourteen today but I suppose if you were to ask my family I’m in my second childhood so-to-speak.  But yesterday I made a big deal out of my heart attack but today not so much.    It’s not that I fear death—no, I fear pain.  Death doesn’t frighten me in the least.  I have talked with many who have had that kind of heart attack and the women have said it’s worse than child birth.  There really isn’t a pain like it they have said.  If I could go without the pain I’d be in heaven right now.   But if I had to go through that pain to get there I’d rather live.  But a lot has happened in these last fourteen years.  And I’ve been alive to live my life relatively pain free.  My appendicitis wasn’t all that painful but the stomach tube was annoying enough.  But we sold our home and invested in another place in NY and now live with our son here in Florida.   I’m limited in what u do and I ...
