It’s October!

October is the month for Halloween.  My wife has decorated a little for Halloween and the Fall.  October is when many begin making plans for the holidays.  And for those who aren’t following what many Christians believe the rapture will now take place on Oct. 5 and 6.  I’m just really surprised that Christians give so much credit to those who set dates.

But if one guesses enough times one will eventually be right.  It’s kind of like predicting scores of college football games.  Hardly anyone guesses right.  And it is just a guess.  No one knows.  But getting back to October, we’ve made flight arrangements for my son to fly down for Christmas.

As for shopping for Christmas, I haven’t yet begun.  We need to work on the pool this fall.  It would be nice to have it all done before the holidays.  I miss the fall in NY.  It is just a beautiful time in October.  The changing of the leaves only lasts a few weeks, but it is worth living in the north this time of year.  Football in October is the best.  One doesn’t have to bundle up yet to watch the games.

But a cool fall night for football is the best.  But growing up I always looked forward to football in October.  My son’s birthday is November 1 and it seems his birthday was always a couple of weeks long.  When he was young he was disappointed he wasn’t born October 31.  But as he grew older he found out about All Souls Day being on his birthday.  Then his birthdate was cool.

A lot happens in October.  The baseball playoff games are held in October then the World Series begins the end of October.  Hockey season begins in the fall.  October is a good month for hockey.  The teams begin their run for the Stanley Cup in June.  October is just a great month!  Just enjoy it.  For those of you who will be around after the 6th, have a happy October!

I’m smoking my Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipe this morning with some Quiet Nights.  My coffee this morning is a blend from Guatemala.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one you!

Dave
