Many Things

 There are many things involved with smoking pipes.  The care of a pipe needs many things.  One can’t just buy a pipe and smoke it.  First and foremost are pipe cleaners.  After every bowl a pipe cleaner is needed to clean out the summer and make sure the passage way is clear.  Sometimes alcohol is needed along with the pipe cleaner to make sure the passage way is clear.  

Cake will build up inside the bowl so a reamer is necessary to make sure there is not too much of a build up inside the bowl.  Some pipe smokers only light their pipes with matches, but I use a Zippo pipe lighter.  I need flints, wicks, and lighter fluid for my lighter.  

I also have a pipe ashtray that doubles as a pipe rest and ashtray with a cork knocker.  I also have storage humidors for my various tobaccos.  A cloth isn’t necessary, but I always have one handy.  And maybe last by not least is a tamper tool for tamping down the bowl as it is smoked.  A pipe requires meticulous care as pipes are not cheap.  

So, a pipe keeps a pipe smoker busy.  I take a lot of vids of myself smoking various pipes, but a lot goes into the care of a pipe.  It’s not just a matter of lighting it and forgetting about it.  Pipes require meticulous care.  People are a lot like a pipe.  How we show our love for others is a lot more than just an “I love you.”  

I can get about twenty minutes of pleasure from a bowl, but after a bowl is smoked the care for the pipe begins in preparation for the next bowl.  I’ve learned a lot about caring for others from smoking a pipe.  A pipe requires meticulous attention as do people.  This is what smoking a pipe has taught me.  Today my pipe is my Preben  Holm pipe and my tobacco is Cordial by Cornell and Diehl.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.
