A Good Weekend

 If you are a sports lover this is a good weekend.  It seems a lot of people are hoping for a Seahawks win in the Super Bowl.  The Seahawks are favored by Vegas to win by 4.5 points.  A lot of people wonder why Vegas has spreads of a half point.  That half point prevents ties.  Vegas hates ties.  No one wins with a tie.  So the Seahawks have to win by at least five points for Vegas to lose.  And four points or less and Vegas wins.  

But getting away from football is the Winter Olympics from Milan, Italy.  In my thinking the Winter Olympics is the best.  It has everything one wants in the Olympics, in my thinking.  And if the Olympics doesn’t interest you, there is college basketball now leading up to March Madness.  The college basketball teams are now playing for seeding positions in the championship games.  

And if basketball isn’t your cup of tea, baseball is getting ready for the spring training games.  There is something in February this year for most anyone.  It is a good month for all kinds of sports.  

I’m watching the Olympics this morning, but later today my attention will switch to college basketball.  I’m enjoying all this while smoking my La Roma Valencia pipe with some Cornell and Diehl Old College pipe tobacco.  I have just finished drinking some Mayorga coffee.  Enjoy your Saturday and as always I thank you for your time and wish Peace and Love to each one of you.

Bach and a Pipe

 Bach was known to drink wine and smoke a pipe.  I did a little research in the area and found he was known to use tobacco in a pipe.  Tobacco came from the New World and before the New world was settled tobacco was traded back and forth.  He had access to tobacco as it took some wealth back then to afford the tobacco.  It was used mostly in the upper classes of Europe and it is said that his cousin supplied him the tobacco. As to whether men of great wealth generally used tobacco is a debate that countries today.  Shakespeare is not known to have smoked tobacco, but it seems he used pot and cocaine, which were found in clay pipes excavated from his property.  But many think it would be scandalous to suggest Shakespeare used tobacco.   When we get to the settling of the New World, pipe smoking was common among men.  The odds are great that great historical figures were pipe smokers, but most of this is conjecture but we simply don’t know. ...

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...
