Super Bowl Sunday

 The New England Patriots have appeared in 11 Super Bowls.  Let that sink in.  They have the most wins tied by the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Sea Hawks have appeared four times and won once.  As of this morning the Sea Hawks are favored by 5.5 points.  Of course, I’m rooting for the Sea Hawks.  

Only a few of the sixty games have been good games.  I can’t say I have seen every Super Bowl, but I am old enough to give a historical perspective of the game.  Right now I am watching the Winter Olympics and later this early afternoon my attention will shift to the OSU/Mich basketball game.  Then I’ll watch the Olympics until about six this evening for the pre-game.  

There are a lot of sports to watch today.  As of this writing the USA has won one gold medal with eleven nations winning medals.  We will see how the USA does in the games.  But there is enough to keep me occupied today.  Right now I am smoking my Nording Number 3 pipe with some Ild College pipe tobacco by Cornell and Diehl.  My coffee this morning is Mayorga coffee from Mexico.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.

Bach and a Pipe

 Bach was known to drink wine and smoke a pipe.  I did a little research in the area and found he was known to use tobacco in a pipe.  Tobacco came from the New World and before the New world was settled tobacco was traded back and forth.  He had access to tobacco as it took some wealth back then to afford the tobacco.  It was used mostly in the upper classes of Europe and it is said that his cousin supplied him the tobacco. As to whether men of great wealth generally used tobacco is a debate that countries today.  Shakespeare is not known to have smoked tobacco, but it seems he used pot and cocaine, which were found in clay pipes excavated from his property.  But many think it would be scandalous to suggest Shakespeare used tobacco.   When we get to the settling of the New World, pipe smoking was common among men.  The odds are great that great historical figures were pipe smokers, but most of this is conjecture but we simply don’t know. ...

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...
