Dress Code

Is there a dress code for one who has had an experience with Angels?  I have often thought about this.  My own dress code is nothing fancy.  Often I wear shorts, t-shirts, or some tropical shirt and tennis shoes or just tennis sneakers.  I once bought a monk’s robe I was going to wear with sandals and with a cross around my neck.

I wore that outfit around the house for a day and thought it looked stupid to wear in public.  Then I wore jeans and a regular shirt up north, but here it has been pretty much shorts, t-shirt, and tennis loafers.  I very seldom wear socks, but I feel blending in is much better than standing out.  I own a suit and a couple of sports coats, but still being comfortable is much better for me.

I own a couple of sweatpants I can wear with sweatshirts, but I seldom dress up to go out.  I’m an old retired guy who has no need for suits.  I don’t dress for success nor do I ever dress up these days.  I lounge around in the shorts I sleep in and change my t-shirt daily.  I shower much less these days, but in hot summer months I’ll wipe myself down with bathing cloths to rid myself of sweat and cool off.

But thinking that I, in some way, need to stand out from the crowd, I don’t think so.  I’ve given thought to it.  I used to drive a nicer more luxurious car, but we just need basic transportation these days.  I still want an older Miata MX5, but that car is too impractical for us.  I given thought to ownership, but a car is all we need to own.

We rid ourselves of a lot of stuff we accumulated over the years and there isn’t much we want.  I have a modest cd collection and a few records I’d like to put in a memory stick, but apart from this there isn’t anything I need or want.  Keeping life simple is best.  But as for standing out in some way isn’t important to me.

I watch news vids on YouTube, but these days too much news is too stressful.  I’d rather listen to quiet music and relax with a pipe.  My pipe collection is modest at best with some pipes being fifty years old.  There just isn’t a lot I need apart from maintaining my pipes and buying tobacco once a month.   Today my pipe is my Danish Fancy Rungstad pipe with some Peter Stokkebye Peaches and Cream pipe tobacco.  My coffee this morning is Stumptown Holler Mountain.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.
