What I’ve Learned
My experience with my angels taught me that I don’t have to shop around for a religion. I’ve found mine. I practice my religion through quiet meditation. Quiet is best for me. We went out to dinner Saturday night to a very noisy steak place. It was so noisy that when I came home my heart was pounding and I was a little worried about it.
My chest was pounding and my heart rate was 110, which is very high for me at rest. After a few hours it was down 99, but still too high for me. I checked it the next morning and was down to about 70. My heart shout be about 65 at rest. This morning it is at 70, which is about normal for me at rest. Calm is between 65 and 70. 110 is a brisk walk for me.
Another thing I have learned is that after sampling hundreds of tobaccos, I have found THE one I like best. Some pipers might find their “go-to” tobacco, but I’m tired of sampling. Sure there are many I have not tried, but after a while you just get tired of sampling and thinking about what’s in the pipe you’re smoking. I just got tired of sampling.
I liken it to dating. At first it’s exciting then after a while it gets boring and then you decide. Well, I’ve decided. And I think pipe smoking is like that. In the past few years I’ve sampled more and finally decided on one. I have many pipes and I could say a pipe is just a pipe. But I can’t say this about tobacco blends. Each one is different in their own way.
I want to relax with my pipe and not think about what’s in it. I buy just what I need for a month. This way it stays fresh enough. I now have my one religion and my one tobacco blends. This suits me just fine. I believe in the power of thought. I don’t want a complicated religion and I don’t want complicated pipe smoking. I’ve found simplicity is best.
My pipe this morning is my J M Boswell pipe from 1997 and my tobacco is my favorite being Proper English by Peter Stokkebye. My coffee this morning is Blue Bottle. Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.
