I’m Tempted
A couple of months ago I ordered a half pound of Peaches and Cream by Peter Stokkebye. It’s almost gone now and I’ve been thinking about my next aromatic. I have seen so many pipe smokers smoking Cult Blood Red Moon. It’s a rather controversial aromatic with some saying it’s too much cherry and some aren’t sure what all the hype is all about.
Granted a tin is only two ounces, but I’m thinking about adding a tin to my next order. I need to find out what all fuss is all about. Two ounces might last me about a month, but that will give me a chance to smoke it right away and then work my way through the tin. I need to order a can of Captain Black Original, but maybe my personal accountant will let me order both.
I’ve avoided Cult Bood Red Moon thinking it’s just too sweet. But I need to find out for myself just to know what it is. I smoked a lot of Autumn Evening but eventually I got burned out on it. A sampling of Cult BRM is all I need. And for an extra ten bucks it won’t break the bank. I smoke an aromatic once in a while for nostalgia. Aro’s are where I began my pipe smoking journey and never really gave them up.
I narrowed my search for what I consider to be a perfect English for me. I had to figure out what I liked and what I didn’t like. I went through a lot of tobaccos including aros. I found out that I like Perique, but it doesn’t like me. I tried tobaccos with and without Burley and discovered without is best. I kept sampling blends of Virginias, Latakia’s, and Orientals. Then I found the English I like best.
But my journey has been fifty plus years and my taste buds aren’t what they used to be. There are a number of aros that are definitely aros. Otherwise to me most aros are the same, it just depends. Even after some fifty odd years of pipe smoking I’m still learning. If you aren’t learning you’re no longer alive. I appreciate all I learn. Today my pipe is my very first pipe—my Jobe and my tobacco is Proper English. My coffee this morning is. Mexico Chiapas. Thank you for your time and Peace and love to each one of you.
