Keeping Up

I try to keep up with current trends in pipe smoking these days, but at my age it’s hard to keep up with all the tobacco blends when I have narrowed my pipe smoking to just a few favorites.  If I sampled everything out there I wouldn’t be smoking my favorites.  I leave the sampling to the pros and those who want to sample.

My sampling days are pretty much over.  I’ve learned a lot from the younger pipe smokers, but I have my own way of doing things trying to stick to basics.  But I keep learning.

I’ve connected with a few about Angels and one thing about theology is that nothing is new to me.  The basics are still there.  I never got into the prosperity gospel, as it is called, because I found it to be more about personality and show than theology.  My theology is still rather basic.  My Angels changed how I think about sin and forgiveness.  I came to the conclusion that all God cares about is Human Life.

I try to reflect the nature of my Angels in how I live my life.  I’ve found I am best when I am often alone with my pipe.  I see them as tools for reflection, meditation, and relaxation.  Sometimes I have found ignorance is bless.  The less I know about what is going on in the world the happier I am.  I need to focus on the big picture rather than details.

I pretty much know all the theology I need to know and maybe I have learned as much about pipe smoking that I need to know.  My brain is tired these days and I find relaxation better than thinking too much.  I’ve had to learn this the past few years, but for me it’s not death I am waiting for.  I am quietly waiting for the arrival of the Messiah.  My numbers might increase as I wait or maybe I have done enough already.

Either way I win.  I win in quiet and I win with noise.  But I prefer quite the best.  My mind needs quiet.  I have my pipes and my favorite tobaccos.  I have my theology which translates to philosophy about life and living. Simplicity is best.  My pipe this morning is my Pierre Lamy pipe which I bought in the mid-80’s.  That’s about when I acquired most of my pipes.  My tobacco is my favorite being Proper English by Peter Stokkebye.  My coffee this morning is from Trader Joe’s called Mexico Chiapas.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.
