Something Different

I'm not an oenophile, or a connoisseur of wines.  I told my wife yesterday that I will write about a wine we purchased more or less just for the heck of it.  It is Lamarca Prosecco Rose.  We were at Walgreens and they had these various summer kinds of wines on a seasonal display.  Because it is a sparkling wine the 187 ml bottle had a foil wrap around the opening like a fine bottle of Champagne.  My wife suggested I try it as it wouldn't hurt.  So, we bought a bottle and put it in the refrigerator.

I actually forgot about it until I opened the refrigerator to grab a Coke.  There it was.  I am sitting on the lanai as it is raining this afternoon as I write with a glass of this sparkling Italian Rose.   I got out a relatively large wine glass, but 187 ml isn't a lot.  So, at least I don't have to worry about it having any affect on me.  The alcohol content is 11%.  My wife says it's a cute little bottle.  There you have it.  A cute little bottle is all one needs to know.  I tried to pry the cap off as one would a bottle of champagne, but it just unscrews without all the drama.

But how does it taste?  It's a little dry actually.  I expected something like a Moscato, but it's drier.  A little sweet with just a hint of spice, but definitely fruity.  There are hints of apricot with a little citrus.  It is quite flavorful.  Would I buy it again?  Maybe as a hot weather treat, but only if it were on display as some kind of impulse buy.  I am pretty much a red wine consumer and will drink the occasional different red wine like the Spanish reds my sons bought as gifts.

I'm very careful about alcohol.  Although I can tell you that Mexican Pina Coladas pack a wallop.  Anything with Rum is my favorite.  I had a Jamaican Rum Runner at Mama Marley's that did me in for a whole day.  That night we were on our cruise ship sailing from Jamaica which was rolling in the waves and was the only time I have ever been sea sick on a cruise ship.

I basically drink mostly Cabernet Savignogn being very careful with anything alcoholic.   My Favorite Cabernet is Josh, which has several wines in various distinctions.  In my thinking Josh wines are the best value for the dollar.  I try to avoid recommendations in my blog, but anything I mention is a personal preference.

So, there you have it.  I won't say this is a good review of Lamarca Prosecco Rose Sparkling wine from Italy.  If one is into that sort of thing it's okay.  But I'll stick to Rum and Cabernet Savignogn as my alcohol of choice.  Today it is my Rosedale pipe with some Tropical Export.  I'm almost certain this Rosedale pipe was made by Peterson, but I have no way of knowing and doubt anyone would know.  Both with a cup of good Gavalia coffee I ground myself.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
