Something Different
I've decided that writing about philosophical/theological stuff is work. Even just sitting smoking my pipe, my mind is always thinking. You've got enough of that from me lately. I need a little fantasy fun. And from me, you do too. I get tired from from it all. And sometimes stress comes with it. You don't need, or more often want that here. I feel I've said enough about all that stuff here.
But this lighter really gave me a shock when I wondered who'd buy it. This is one the most expensive pipe lighters on Smoking Pipes available right now. Before I give you Smoking Pipes price on it, let me just say the MSRP on it is over $11,000. That is not a typo. The person who would buy this would consider it an accessory for their Rolls. I don't need it for my Avalon. And the Rolls owner wouldn't care if pipe ashes got on the leather seats.
Back in the day, if a man wanted to impress the ladies, he'd pull out a Dunhill lighter to light their cigarettes. And if he smoked cigarettes, he would have a Dunhill cigarette case often made from fine silver, but the most expensive would be gold. These days, I'm not sure what it takes to impress. Somehow I can't stop thinking that Sean Connery as James Bond was the king of cool. He didn't smoke a pipe, but if he had it would have been nothing but a Dunhill. That white dot would have been prominently displayed in his every close-up.
I need to stay on subject: The pipe lighter above. The price on Smoking Pipes is $1,450. But they just received an aquarium table lighter also from Dunhill that is being sold for over $12,000. I thought about reviewing it here, but it's not a pocket lighter like my Zippo. Maybe if it's not sold I might review it, but then that is going from the sublime to the ridiculous. If it's not sold any time soon, maybe I'll post about it here.
Dunhill has been known for doing almost what borders on silly. I think thar is silly. This lighter is Dunhill's Unique Turbo Moire Texture Palladium Plate lighter. In case you get to a pipe shop and see if they have one in stock. Chances are they won't. I started just browsing Smoking Pipes to see what else they had besides pipes. I found out they have a lot of stuff from cheap to outrageous. Obviously, this lighter is outrageous.
The question you may have is whether I'd review it. No need. Not much more to be said about it, unless you want to know what Palladium is. Do what I do: Google it. Today it is my Olive wood pipe with some Epiphanyi that I lit with my trusty Zippo. If I lose it, it's affordable to replace. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
