Looking Forward
I always have something on my mind, and this morning I'm thinking we'll be in NY until after the leaves fall from the trees up there. We'll be back in Florida by Thanksgiving. It might be a little early yet to be thinking fall when Easter has not yet arrived. But already we are thinking of leaving here and heading back to NY. We learned a few things about country living in NY. We've learned a lot about deer up there and what not to grow that deer like to eat.
I'm looking forward to watching the deer mosey across our back yard in the early evenings when they are most active. We've learned a lot about the deer up there. They seem to be fearless about humans up there. And they seem to be most attracted to the aroma of any Cherry flavored tobacco I might smoke while sitting on the deck of our NY home.
The antlers of the bucks begin growing in late summer and there are a lot of rutting noises from the bucks in early fall. It just seems like fall in NY is the best. And I'm looking forward to it. I'm also looking forward to the growth of our daughter-in-law's garden as she tries to keep the deer and rabbits from eating her plants.
We're keeping the pool closed as we have used it so little. I've enjoyed it by myself a few times and once or twice we've had pool parties, but we've found it isnt worth it to keep it open. We aren't yet sure what we'll do with the pool, but we'll leave that to our daughter-in-law to decide. In my thinking the deck is the best part of the house. I just love to sit in the cool of summer evenings, smoke my pipe, and simply observe nature there.
But this morning I'm in Florida thinking Easter. Summer and fall in NY is still a long way away. There are still things to be done here at my son's house. Yes, I COULD write about some Florida man this morning, but really anyone can look up something every day. Very seldom is there a story about some man in NY state. I'm here in Florida thinking about all we need to do to get ready to leave for NY. We have a lot to do. And since we won't be shipping a car to NY we have to limit what we take with us.
I'm going over my list wondering just which of my pipes will be going to NY. I'll take just enough to have for each day of the week. I might buy a pipe while we are there, but maybe not. It all depends. It has to come back with us when we return in November. The house there has most everything we need except for clothes. We need a few things for colder weather. But I can relax today with my new Peterson Irish Harp pipe which is with some Morley's Best English blend and a cup of hot Guatamalan black coffee. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
