Something Different

 I have my next tobacco order ready to go.  I worked on it after talking to my wife who said she wanted me to order some “nice smelling” tobacco.  I have to admit that after smoking nearly fourteen ounces of Carter Hall, the room note doesn’t smell very good and I’m not crazy about it.  Carter Hall is a typical Virginia Burley blend that leaves a lot to be desired.  It’s okay as most any tobacco is okay, but I’ve had other similar blends I liked better.    Good Stuff might have the best OTC tobaccos I have had including Gambler, Red River, and Super Value.

The best OTC might be Captain Black Original and my least favorite was Mixture Number 79, which I think was the worst of the bunch.  Carter Hall is just so-so, but I’m happy to have smoked so much of it.  It is like so many OTC blends.  I’m happy to have smoked so much of it, but I doubt I’ll order it again.  

In my order is a Balkian tobacco, which is the holy grail of pipe smokers.  It consists of aged Virginia, which is naturally sweet, Latakia, and Oriental tobaccos.  It gets a 4.09 out of five on Smoking Pipes, which means it is liked a lot and gets good reviews.  I also ordered eight ounces of Dark Cherry for my wife to enjoy along with four ounces of Autumn Evening, which I also know my wife enjoys.  

I know when it comes to English tobaccos my wife does not like their room notes.  But when it comes to sweet Aromatics, those she enjoys.  I have never had the Dark Cherry before, but reviewers say it is very sweet.  I don’t have to comment on Autumn Evening, but as the days get cooler here in Florida, Autumn Evening will be perfect.  It has been a long time since I have had a good Balkan blend.  My wife will dislike the room note of it as much as she hates Old Professor.  But Balkan blends always get high praise on Smoking Pipes mostly from experienced pipe smokers that often say the Balkan tobaccos are the best.

I haven’t had a good Balkan in years mostly because they can be so expensive.  I found this blend in bulk on Smoking Pipes and am looking forward to it.  Today it is my Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipe with my Carter Hall and my coffee this morning is Stumptown Holler Mountain.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Strange

 I can never predict how any of my posts are going to be received but I do get a reaction from my wife quite often, but I'll post about my Spirituality thinking I've said enough and apart from a few other subjects my Spirituality posts do quite well.  I had yesterday's tobacco review done a few days ago and saved it for yesterday and again, it seems my tobacco reviews do quite well.  Then I wrote about my age and it seemed no one cared that much   My wife says that it's my titles for my subjects So, while I have so many subjects to choose from, today it is about how my tobacco choices influence my Spirituality or do they?  Not really.  It's just that I can't smoke my pipes without tobacco.  I could be smoking a lot of things.  Like the question asked when someone thinks you are crazy, " What have I been smoking?"  Well, at least you know.  It's never any "funny" stuff.  You could be asking what I've been drinking.  I have ...

Old Ads

 My wife liked my post about old things we remember.  And a lot of what I remembered was good.  But there was some bad things back then that are different today.  Back in the 50's and 60's and even into the 70's advertising in both magazines and TV were incredibly sexist.  I don't have the space in one post to list all the ads, but really they can be summed by saying that a lot of advertising was incredibly sexist. I 've mentioned my wife lit my pipe for me just a few times, but these days she can barely tolerate the aroma of my most flavorful Aromatic tobacco.  She liked everything I said in that post except my mentioning Old Professor pipe tobacco.  Ironically, I like Old Professor the most and she hates it the most.  So, when I mentioned it, she did too.  But back in the day a man smoking a pipe was his lifestyle.  Today, it's a hobby, and not just for men.
