A Cup and a Pipe

 Yesterday I spoke of the warmth of a pipe.  I always smoke my first bowl with a cup of coffee.  Both are warm.  Some might suggest a glass of rum or whiskey with a pipe.  I have a bottle of rum that is over a year old on our shelf.  It takes me a long time to drink the hard stuff with a pipe.  

I’ve found coffee is best with a pipe.  I’ve had the hard stuff with both a pipe and cigar.  But I’ve found coffee t is the best.  I like both the warmth of a pipe and coffee the best.  Even on the hottest of days coffee is best with a pipe.  We’re now thinking about our summer in NY.  I love the cool mornings in NY the best.  

We are leaving Friday for NY and I will be taking both Proper English by Peter Stokkebye and Stratfordshire by Cornell and Diego with me to NY.  The rest will remain here in Florida.  I’m looking forward to going to NY for the summer.  Our coffee maker here in Florida is a pour over maker and our coffee maker in NY is a drip coffee maker.  

But the fact is I’ll have coffee in NY.  I’m going through my collection to see which pipes I’ll take with me to NY.  I might buy a pipe or two while in NY.  I need to make room to bring back a couple of extra pipes when we return.  This morning I am smoking my Nording Number 2 pipe with some Cornell and Diehl Cordial tobacco.  My coffee is from Stumptown and is Holler Mountain.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.

Pipes and Other Things

 If anything happened to my pipes or my new cabinet or anything else I might own, they are only things.  I can live without things.  I don't drink enough alcohol to be an alcoholic, for example, so no, I don't need alcohol.  I'm writing this today as a reminder as to why I smoke a pipe.  I smoke a pipe for meditative purposes and for relaxation.  There are  no other reasons why I smoke a pipe.  I am not addicted to my pipes or the tobacco I put in them.   It is a known fact  that cigarette smokers smoke cigarettes because they are addicted to them.  I watch a lot of YouTube videos and one video I watched was about tobacco commercials from the late fifties through the sixties.  Those commercials sold cigarettes as pleasure and enjoyment with no mention of nicotine in any of the two hour video of ads.  The emphasis was on what cigarettes could do for you.  A lot of research and planning went into the filters of cig...

 Ask my wife, I can get irritated.  But someone said to me that I don’t get angry.  I avoid anger as much as I can.  It’s not subconscious, but I consciously avoid anger.  Irritation is about as far as I will go.  I’ve had enough anger in me to last several lifetimes.  Probably the same is true of irritation.  God and I have a lot of talks when I get irritated about life.   I think that is one reason I like to be alone a lot and limit my social interactions.  It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard.  The sound is irritating.  But I’ve learned irritation is okay but anger isn’t.  And it’s been this way for the past 32 years.  I CAN get angry.  It’s not that I can’t.  But anger for me solves nothing.  I make my thoughts known and move on.   Some people seethe in anger.  It’s just not there for me.  I work hard at keeping anger subdued.  It’s the same with hatred.  It’s not in me to ...
